WHOO HAH!
Apr. 11th, 2006 | 05:44 pm
I haven't written for sooo long..so, for a 'life update'...
-yes, I am going to Lima, Peru next fall, and I'm fucking stoked.
-I quit my job as Belly Dancer at the Nile, in Anderson.
-I'm moving in with Brandon and Tom this summer to save some money, granted someone will sublease my apartment. It will be fun living with two queens :P
-I went shopping last Saturday with Serafima and I (ME...i.e. NOT Serafima) spent the most money.
This is, actually, what prompted me to write. Something about me spending money seeming like a rare, monumental occasion? Whatever it is, I have two new pairs of shoes that look SOOOOO GOOOOOOOOOOD! One is the nicer version of all these fake-o Indian-sequin-slip-on dealies. They are royal blue and very comfortable. The other pair is off-white and leather. I could go on, but like you really want to hear a description. OOOOHH...but they have tassles. Girlie tassels, mind you.
Besides that, I am holding on for my life. I need to start two papers-one due next week, another the following week- and just STUDY. Life seems to have taken over school. Especially since I don't dance anymore. YAY fun!
All for now....Now I need to EAT. WHOO HAH!

Libation, Reincarnation, Anticipation
Mar. 1st, 2006 | 06:37 pm
I am 2/2 this week in getting adequately drunk with friends. Monday Serafima, Tom, Brandon and I celebrated the homecoming of many glorious Tiffany lamps to their 'humble' abode with margaritas and delicious Sam's Club fixin's. Serafima actually cried a little (partially from the lamps and also, from being in a state of deep thought prompted by inebriation). Conversations with Tom tend to make us all a bit more thoughtful. We were very much into discussing and debating the soul: its properties, reincarnation, and the process of making soulmates, all of which are explained within a certain branch of Judaism (according to Tom). We also compared the Torah to the corresponding books of the Bible...which, in fact, do not exactly match up. No one told me! Much more was discussed, however I was in Margaritaville in a state of ecstasy.
Last night I kicked it with Kat Hall, who goes to Tulane and has the whole week off for Mardi Gras! Lucky ho. We watched 'Without a Paddle,' and it was ridiculous. So campy and overly waaaaaay too-muchy touchy-feely to be a realistic group of friends who are guys. I wouldn't mess my girlfriend's hair to act as a farewell (I might get bitch-slapped, actually...haha). The evening was a little less thought-provoking, but a good time was had by all.
Tonight, I submit to my obsession for the last time: the Project Runway Finale. Two hours. I will be sooo sad when this is over. We'll see if i go 3/3 tonight....well...i'll probably just eat a lot of chocolate instead. :)

FINALLY!!!!
Feb. 20th, 2006 | 02:01 pm
Today marks a very special occasion for me...I have been freaking out for the past 30 minutes. It's been a long time in coming, but finally I have a turntable hooked up and can actually listen to the copious amounts of records i have. FUCKIN A!!!
What record did I listen to first, you may ask? Gorillaz, Demon Days.
I'm off to shake more assage. Rock on everyone!

V-day and such
Feb. 15th, 2006 | 01:57 am
Today two boys told me they loved me and gave me kisses. Their names are Ray and Ethan. They are three and a half years old. :) Beyond that excitement, I rediscovered the awesomeness of playdough (especially when it's all mixed together in a tie-dye-ish sort of blob), and ate pizza with my white-ish black friend Jessica and her two friends. This is the girl who says that I, crazy luminously-white abby, am more black than she is. word.
I'm also attempting to be more financially savvy so I can save for a trip to England/Scotland. If I can get some belly dancing party gigs I'll be set. SOOOOOO...if anyone is in need of a belly dancer for any celebratory function and is willing to pay me and pay for the gas it will take to get there...holla.
And I am serious. Spread the word. I will shake my hips. I have no shame. No stripping though....that's my OTHER job.. ;)

Getting Smashed at Olive Garden
Feb. 2nd, 2006 | 10:31 am
Last night (Wednesday, mind you) Brandon, Tom, Serafima and I ate at Olive Garden.....aaaaaaaaannnd enjoyed a bottle (or two) of nice red wines. Tom was hurling sexual innuendos at our waiter, Stefano, who is actually from Naples, and was also trying to market Serafima and myself as 'nice single girls.' Even getting Sera into the restaurant was insane, since we arrived 30 minutes before they closed, so when she arrived (fashionable late), the alarm went off/manager eyes of death/serafima chugging a glass of wine after having taken vicatin/the arrival of our dinner salads. We actually closed down the place at 11:30 after long conversations that Tom insisted upon calling "Sundance Film Festival Material." I dunno if it was, but we certainly had a great evening of chillin and heartfelt, no-bullshit conversation.

Workin Hard for the Money
Jan. 29th, 2006 | 10:48 pm
I've found a new job: babysitting! Serafima hooked me up with a lady who has kick-ass 3 year old twins, both boys. We mostly run around the house chasing eachother and screaming. I love these kids. However, they are still being potty trained. :( I haven't had to 'clean up' anybody yet, but am constantly telling the boys to 'go poo' or I try to make it sound super exciting. They are actually jealous of eachother when one poops. HAHAHA... I talk about poo way too much, now that I'm a quasi-part of their family. It's nice, though.
Also, This past weekend was my second saturday to return to the Nile to belly dance (since I quit Target). I made so much mad cash...Business was so good that night that even the owner got a little tipsy. Also, some of his Lebannese friends were visiting; this is the couple who owns a Dairy Queen. Every time they come in one of the waitresses asks him if he brought any ice cream....none yet. After I finished, they asked me if I would dance at their children's graduation party in May. HELL YEAH! Beyond being another way to shake my groove thang, I am flattered that they think a girl as white as I am can shake it like an Egyptian. YALLA!!!

I had a party two days ago....and I'm still recovering
Jan. 16th, 2006 | 02:46 pm
Holy Cow! Saturday turned into the coolest party I have ever thrown. EVER. I probably had invited around 40 people, in which 20 or 21 actually showed up and stayed the whole time. Serafima, John, Melanie, Patrick, Colin and Litou were the first to show, thus the ones that helped make about 100 gyosa that were completely gone by the end of the night! I cooked spinakopita, some pineapple cranberry thing, hummus (yay!), and brandon did almost buy out sam's club with crackas, cheese, chocolate, and alco-mo-hol. I even rearranged my house for all the chairs and 'deep conversation' to be facilitated in my living room, and my bedroom to be the rave dance hall. Litou, Natalie and I shook our asses the whole night: gettin 'freaky' cookin gyosa to dancing on my desk with a multicolored flashlight. It really was cool, since I hooked up my big speakers (all by myself!) to the reciever to my computer. woot woot.
I also drank a bit more than I usually do at parties...soooo I don't remember the whole night as one connected story, so here are the highlights:
-receiving very fine bottles of wine from guests as hostess gifts (even one from Tuscany!)
-being a pole for dancing
-meeting a friend of Colin's, who is actually in one of my spanish classes this semester!
-talking to roger (tom's friend visiting from arizona) about meditation and mudras
-playing instruments with friends in my bedroom...someone said I was such a hippy :)
-talking about the evolution of art with Natalie, John, Raquel (tango violinist)
-tasting a white russian for the first time....mmmmmm DELICIOUS! (as josh would say)
-freaking people out with my "cheers, beers and queers" toast
-getting my ass smacked constantly, and smacking back
-(I was told) Brandon, John, and Litou peed by the dumpsters since someone was in the bathroom, sick, for about an hour. I can't believe I missed that!!
-cheesecake!!!!
I know I didn't really talk to everyone, but I noticed that it wasn't clique-ish at all; everyone talked to everyone- I tried to facilitate introdutions when I could, and people just bonded. It was an awesome group of people. After dancing the night away, the 10 or so that were left hanging around just sat in the living room talking, until brandon and Victor came back with lesbian/black/midget porn. Yes.....he went there. Serafima actually picked it out, but for-went the viewing in order to get some real action. I don't blame her, it was awful! Not a "haha...that's so funny" awful, but AAAWWWWFUUUUL!!!! The balding midget stood on a table, naked of course, and yelled, "YOU BITCHES READY?!?" jumped down and proceded to do nasty things to all four lesbian(previous scenes of nasty awfulness) black ladies with very long fingernails who caressed his balding spot. ick. We fast forwarded through most of it...trying to see the "plot," of which there was only about 4 minutes of dialogue. hahaha....well, I guess that's what you get with a movie called "Napoleon Goes Black."
The last ones to leave were the academites...we sat around and talked for awhile. It was nice to chillax with old friends after such a crazy night. Litou actually cleaned my kitchen before she left. :) The next morning, I made pancakes and watched movies with brandon until 6pm. hell yeah.....

Orgazmo has possessed my friends
Jan. 8th, 2006 | 07:36 pm
After much deliberation, I have finally seen the movie Orgazmo. "OOH, JESUS!!"......"Where?" As usual, my posse (Brandon and Serafima) came over, creating even more ridiculousness than usual. I am in the process of planning another cooking/dance-your-pants-off extravaganza and their suggestions were quite creative and "helpful." To name a few of them:
1) Play muted porn in my living room as people arrive and gawk at their reaction.
2) Play gay porn (same as above)
3) Invite many hott boys from Wabash to drool over
4) When asked, "What is your name?" in the sexiest voice possible, say, "I am Sancho....I AM Sancho."
5) Make hummus.
Ok, so the last one was really mine, but it's RIDICULOUS... ridiculously good, that is! I don't think any of their ideas will come to pass, except the Sancho one, I really want to be Sancho for an evening. :)
